Anyone want a UKC dog?

Postby Violet on Sat Jan 23, 2010 11:47 pm

DRAW currently has 5 UKC dogs available for adoption. They were not all suppoed to land with us but..without getting into a bunch of BS, the breeders behind these dogs have had to or chosen to back out. SO..now we have 5 great dogs needing homes. 2 cropped males, 2 cropped females and one smushy adorable male. The pups are 9 months old. They have been some work and will need continued work as they know NOTHING. They were not housebroken, socialized, trained, NOTHING. they did not even know their names. The mother, for what it is worth, is a GRCH in conformation and a weight pull champion. The father of the litter is also a GRCH in conformation and his owner is happy to be in touch with adopters and tell them all she knows. Mom is going to be 6 in March. Currently no papers available and I doubt there will be. However, adopters WILL have access to the dogs bloodline history.
Male pup, Petie, is confident and solid. Sweet as pie with all humans. Judging from his current status he is likely to run a little hot with other dogs in the future. Definately has weight pull potential. Around 65 pounds. Not a small guy.
Image
Scooby is..a dork. Mushball, sweet puppy who wants nothing more than to melt in your lap. Close to 70 pounds of puppy pile. Being treated for ringworm and an ear infection.
Image
Sassy is an incredibly sweet girl but a little soft. Tends to shut down a little in new situations but is coming around quickly. Is being treated for demodex which breeder had previously treated as allergies..whatever..ignorant bitch. um..i mean..lovely well meaning person. Much smaller than her brothers, around 40 pounds.
Image
Storm AKA Baby Huey is a DOLL. This big dork LOVES people. He was a complete basket case when he got here. terrified of everything. but he is quickly coming around. Weight pull potential. Total family dog. Even good with cats. But will flea bite the crap out of a baby blanket. Also around 65 pounds. Being treated for ear infections.
Image
Wishes..a very dominant female but super sweet, melt in your arms lovergirl. As I said, she is a weight pull and conformation champ..whatever. She needs a family and love. She lives to play frisbee. And to snuggle on the couch. Should probably be an only dog or with a compatible male and responsible owners.

They are all gorgeous Violet! I'm in love with Sassy and Wishes but alas my current girl doggie would not be very appreciative of another.

Can you tell us what the situation was? And the breeder? I don't see what the problem with a little public disclosure could be.

nope, don't mind at all now that it is slowly becoming public knowledge. We HAD kind of kept it quiet initially in hopes of getting the remaining dogs but that does not appear to be possible now.

The dogs are all from Ivie League kennels. The sire of this litter is a WestWinds dog, Scoop. Westwinds kennels is helping with placements as much as they can and is happy to be in touch with adopters of the pups. Wishes is actually being returned to her co-owner now that we have managed to make contact.

Long story short..The owner of Ivie League Kennels is not in a good place right now and the dogs were suffering. The pups basically lived the last 9 months of their lives either crated or kenneled. They have been utterly unsocialied and untrained. But are good dogs none the less. This was the rbeeding that produced these pups http://webspace.webring.com/people/ai/i ... dings.html

the males are pretty overdone and on the large side. The female is a petite and sweet thing. 38 lb's. The boys are closer to 70. But they all have excellent temperaments.

And then there were three. Storm and Scooby are ready to go. We hope Sassy will be soon. Petie will be joining his new home this weekend!

New pics of Storm. A dogs name could not suit them less than his. This is a super sweet, gentle dog. Appropriate with humans of all ages, loves everyone. He is still a little shy in new situations but super friendly towards humans everywhere he goes. He is so happy to meet new people he tends to forget he is worried about his new environment. I have to say..this is one case where nature won out for the dogs. In spite of all they have been through, their rock solid temperaments have given them the ability to recover and remain super nice dogs.

Love the last pic! The dark eyeliner around the one eye and the white fur on the other is a great contrast.

He is a beautiful dog inside and out (even if I still laugh about him being a well bred "pit bull" lol) he really is a nice boy. And despite his boxerish hid he isn't horribly huge at all, only 54 pounds. His brother, on the other hand, weighed in at 67 yesterday. And is a bit of a beast. Sassy aka Kisses is a complete doll. I just wish we could get her skin under control. And she weighs a mere 44 pounds. We had those three together eysterday for teh first time since their repossession and it was funny to see the three of them together. Someone at the clinic actually argued with us about them being related, let alone littermates.

Please, please, please tell me that the bitch was spayed before being returned?????

I will say I have met her dogs and they are all very calm, very friendly dogs.
